E3 2017 – Microsoft / Xbox Press Conference Summary

Here’s a quick summary from the Microsoft Press Conference!

So many games.

+ Hardware News:

  • Project Scorpio changes name to Xbox One X. Releases November 7 and will be priced at $500 in the US. This is also the smallest console yet.
  • Some big games will get free Xbox One X 4K upgrades.
  • Thanks to the Xbox One backwards compatibility, you will now be able to play original Xbox games.

Anthem: A new game / brand new series by Bioware. A sci-fi game with humans in suits that gives them superhuman strength. Explore a landscape of primeval beauty, confront the dangers you find, and grow in power with every step.

Assassin’s Creed: Origins: New AC confirmed. The story is about the last Madjay called Bayek and it takes place in Egypt. You can control a bird that can find areas of interest for you. The combat looks a little like Dark Souls.

Black Desert Online: The popular PC MMORPG will have a console version. The sandbox fantasy game will have new enhancements such as 4K.

Crackdown 3: An open world game that’s very over-the-top. Trailer featured Terry Crews but we don’t know if he’s in the actual game yet. Resembles the earlier titles.

Dragon Ball FighterZ: A crazy looking 2D fighting game that features 3v3 brawls. Fighter includes classic characters like Vegeta, Cell and Goku.

Forza Motorsport 7: Runs at 60 FPS and 4K resolution on the Xbox One X. There are more than 700 cars in the game and features the 2018 Porsche GT 911 2RS.

+ List of ID@Xbox Games:

Life is Strange: Before the Storm: Seems like a prequel or an extension to the original game. Has three episodes, starring Chloe and Rachel Amber.

Metro: Exodus: You play as a character called Artyom as it picks up from Metro: Last Light’s ending. The game takes place in Moscow and is canon. Later on you’ll embark on a journey across a Russia that has become post-apocalyptic. Familiar faces will make an appearance as well.

PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS: Comes to consoles this year. The game is a popular shooter and will be a “console launch exclusive” on Xbox One. Those playing on Xbox One X can enjoy the game in 4K and with HDR support.

Sea of Thieves: This “be a pirate with your friends” game has been delayed to 2018. A longer gameplay video showed how you could fight skeletons, ride the sea on your ship and explore / loot caves.

State of Decay 2: The sequel to the first State of Decay has a lot of action and zombies in a large world. It has co-op, new types of monsters, weapons, as well as vehicles.
