My name is Arne-Ivar Terning, I am from Norway and I am 22 years old.
What are your interests, are you part of any cool projects?
My biggest interest is video games, as they are something I’ve been into for as long as I can remember. Video games are also what actually inspired me to my current dream of getting to work with 3D graphics, a field which I am hoping to start studying next fall. I also help out in two projects as a translator; MultiTheftAuto, which is an multiplayer mod for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and in Space Engineers. Other interests of mine are cars, tv-series, movies and music.
Where is your IGDB.com nickname from? What is in your avatar?
A few years back I was starting to get tired of the lame gamertag I had on Xbox and wanted to change it to something I had put a little more thought into, so I took Sir and my last name Terning (which translates to ‘dice’ in English) and put them together… *poof*! There it was! Have been using it ever since. The avatar is something I actually made myself. You might spot that it is sporting a Christmas hat now, which is also a reason to why I wanted to make my own avatar – so I could dress it up for the seasons if I wanted to!
How did you join IGDB? What has made you stick around?
Joined IGDB back in October of 2013, but I had known about the site being in the works since 2011 when I saw a text saying something akin to ‘Site coming soon’. I had been actively searching for a database for games with the features and potential I was looking for, since no other site suited me. I’ve stuck around since the site is evolving nicely, plus for the super staff who are amazingly active.
What are you hoping to see on the site in the future?
Watching it continue growing in members, activity, games and features.
What video games are you playing at the moment?
I am actively playing a number of games at the moment – Grand Theft Auto V with friends online, Audiosurf 2 for my daily dose of music, Fallout 4 that I never seem to finish, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in split screen on console with a buddy of mine and MultiTheftAuto as well as a few other smaller games that I come back to now and then.
What video games do you think are the most influential on your person, what is your favorite game?
I actually got a few favorite games like Half-Life 2, Hitman: Blood Money, which is the best stealth game there is, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, which is an extremely underappreciated game, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. San Andreas might be the game I’ve used the most time in, if I was to calculate how much time I’ve used playing it – the amount maybe be somewhere over 3000 hours. I could go on and on about my favorite games, but I’ll just stop there.
This is the game that’s claimed thousands of hours from my life – no regrets!
If there is one game or game series that means a lot to me, it is the Grand Theft Auto series. I tried GTA2 on my brothers computer way back around the time it came out – not that he allowed me to play it but I did it nonetheless. I got hooked and have played every GTA game to completion since. I also absolutely love Red Dead Redemption, it is such a unique game in a setting I’d love to see utilised more. Oh and I almost forgot Bully, another game I absolutely love. By now you might have guessed that I am a big fan of Rockstar Games.
What games do you dislike?
I absolutely hated vanilla The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, felt it was bland and boring but the modding community saved the game and made it awesome and Duke Nukem: Forever should have been cancelled instead of released in the state that it was. Out of the more recent games, I think Destiny had great potential but it was destroyed by the almighty hype train. And last, but not least; Need for Speed (2015) had so much potential and a great foundation for something amazing. But it was just not utilized at all in the right way. Oh well. Maybe in the next game!
Where can we see more of you or your projects?
First of all, if you are interested to see me playing around with level editors, 3D graphics programs in general, or my work on cars, you can search for ‘sirterning’ on Snapchat to follow me!
Here’s a sneak peek of my GOM Player -skin called Creativity!
What would you like to tell the team or the community specifically?
Continue doing what you are already doing, this site is shaping up to become something great 🙂 Oh and have a merry Christmas and a happy new year everybody.
